Faith Rest Life. How do you find rest when the world around you is swirling?

For most of us, we feel it is so hard to catch up. The length of the to-do list seems to never end. Stress and worries seem to overtake your mind. They swirl around, entangle and grip your present. You seem to be reviewing the past actions and words spoken. You are focused on what is next, feeling the weight of impending pressures. You also are striving for the next best thing. The next best thing you have control to deliver based on your experiences, education and connections. There is an overwhelming sense of accomplishment and perfection that surrounds your decisions and your thought process. Your present is so entangled you can barely focus. This entanglement impacts your health, your relationships, your sanity.

What if you could erase every worry and anxiety gripping you right now? What if you could step into rest?

  •  Take a moment to reflect: How would you feel? What would your life be like?

Rest can be defined as a freedom from activity or labor, having a peace of mind or spirit, free of anxieties. Did you catch the word free/freedom? You would be free. A life of rest is possible. Freedom is possible.

You can choose your present, you can say no to the worries and anxieties trying to entangle you. You can choose to let go of the past and walk through forgiveness and find complete restoration. You can choose to place your faith and complete trust in God for your future. Psalm 3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

WOW! Can you imagine a life lived in rest?

You may say, it can’t be that easy. I am not saying there is not work involved, I am saying it is completely possible to find a place of rest. The work of forgiveness and restoration can take time. The work of building new mindsets can take time. However, when you put the work in, you will see transformation. Transformation to a place of wholeness and rest. I love how the Passion Translation reads, “Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.” Romans 12:2

I encourage you today, to start your journey of rest. The more you work to change the way you think and take captive your thoughts, the easier it is. It becomes as easy as tying your shoes.  BREAK-FREE and find your rest!
